In 2002, Hod Hutson formed a venture to build affordable workforce housing in the inner city sections of Denver. That company is the Alternative Housing Group, LLC.

Howard HutsonHoward Hutson, “Hod” is the founding member of the Alternative Housing Group and also the broker for Contemplative Properties, LLC and a member and former director of the Denver Board of Realtors. The Alternative Housing Group uses the licensed brokerage firm to market completed homes as well as secure building sites for the enterprise. Howards experience is in marketing, real estate development and the construction of systems built homes. In addition he is a participating member in the City of Denver’s Neighborly Housing Committee comprised of city planning and zoning employees, architects and individuals working with city officials to improve housing stock in Denvers urban core.

Chris HutsonThe new associate broker for The Alternative Housing Group is Chris Hutson. Chris maintains the property database on lots in the city of Denver making available detailed information on properties in the city, current properties on the market and sales data for sold lots. Chris coordinated the company’s efforts with the City of Denver to build the first prototype two story home on a 25 foot non-conforming lot under the city’s recently enacted Quick Wins 2 zoning ordinance. Quick Wins 2 has substantially changed the set backs, height restrictions and open space requirements for building on infill lots in Denver county.

One of the homes featured on this site is a new pre-fab design built in Denver’s Highland neighborhood by Chris to serve as a model home to show prospective clients the advanced state of technology in the prefab building industry.
